This Easter, we’re bursting with things to see, make and explore including the launch of our major new SAXONS exhibition opening with a big Family Opening Day on 28 March. The first week of the holidays is packed with Easter-themed craft and science family fun, while the second week takes inspiration from the Saxons, with Saxon-themed crafts linked to the new exhibition. Plus don’t forget to play, learn and explore in the Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery.

Monday 30 March – Hopping Lambs and Jumping Rabbits
Learn how to make a moving Easter-themed picture to take home

Tuesday 31 March & Wednesday 1 April – Eggcellent Science
How do you make a bouncy egg? Can an egg survive being catapulted? Find out the answers to these questions and more with our Easter science workshop as we delve deep into egg-related science with fun, hands-on experiments.
Please note: our science workshops can get messy. Aprons will be provided but old clothes are recommended.
Real eggs will be used in this workshop: please let us know of any egg allergies prior to booking so that we can advise.
£7.00 per child plus 1 free adult/ £4 per additional adult
Timings: Hour-long led sessions at 10.15am – 11.15am, 12pm – 1pm & 2pm – 3pm. Please arrive five minutes before your session to ensure a prompt start!

Thursday 2 April – Easter Bunnies
Decorate a wooden easter bunny and create a home for it using a variety of different materials. What will you create?

Try your hand at carving like a Saxon with our soap-carving workshop: will you make a runic message, a celtic knot pattern or a Grotesque? Please note: the carving for this workshop will be done with wooden and plastic tools: no blades will be used.
