The Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery Science Adventure

The Gallery offers schools an imaginative and magical educational experience. Aimed at Key Stage 1 and 2, the interactive displays encourage pupils to investigate history, natural history, science and technology through practical hands-on activities relating to museum objects.

Curriculum Links (English and Science):

-Participate in discussions, presentations, performances role play / improvisations

-Appreciate our rich and varied literary heritage

-Use discussion in order to learn; they should be able to elaborate and explain clearly their understanding and ideas

-Ask simple questions and recognise that they can be answered in different ways

-Observe closely, using simple equipment

 

In this workshop, pupils will:

-Hear about Roald Dahl’s stories, his life and his inspiration

-Act out a scene from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

-Investigate underground treasures in Fantastic Mr Fox’s Tunnel

-Discover the world of minibeasts inside James’s Giant Peach

-Explore sound with the BFG

-Baffle your brains and boggle your eyes with optical illusions

-Shrink in Mr Wonka’s Chocolate Television Machine
