In this fun craft and creative writing workshop, aimed at Key Stages 1 and 2, the BFG needs your help to make some wundercrump new dreams, inspired by favourite museum objects. Create a magical dream bottle as a unique souvenir to take home.
Curriculum Links (writing):
Develop positive attitudes towards and stamina for writing by:
- writing narratives about personal experiences and those of others (real and fictional)
- writing about real events
- writing poetry
- writing for different purposes
Consider what they are going to write before beginning by:
- planning or saying out loud what they are going to write about
- writing down ideas and/or key words, including new vocabulary
In a typical 90-minute session pupils will:
- recap the BFG story
- discuss how Roald Dahl gathered inspiration from the world around him for story writing
- explore museum objects to generate ideas
- create a dream bottle to take back to school
- think about creative writing possibilities inspired by the dreams
- write a story label for the dream bottle
