The Gallery offers schools an imaginative and magical educational experience. Aimed at Key Stage 1 and 2, the interactive displays encourage pupils to investigate history, natural history, science and technology through practical hands-on activities relating to museum objects.
Curriculum Links (English and Science):
- Participate in discussions, presentations, performances role play / improvisations
- Appreciate our rich and varied literary heritage
- Use discussion in order to learn; they should be able to elaborate and explain clearly their understanding and ideas
- Ask simple questions and recognise that they can be answered in different ways
- Observe closely, using simple equipment
In a typical 90-minute sessions pupils will:
- Hear about Roald Dahl’s stories, his life and his inspiration
- Act out a scene from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
- Investigate underground treasures in Fantastic Mr Fox’s Tunnel
- Discover the world of minibeasts inside James’s Giant Peach
- Explore sound with the BFG
- Baffle your brains and boggle your eyes with optical illusions
- Shrink in Mr Wonka’s Chocolate Television Machine
