Since opening the Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery at Discover Bucks Museum has inspired generations of young visitors to play, discover and learn and let their imaginations run wild.
From February 2027, we’re marking this very special milestone with a year of wondercrump celebrations. From February to autumn, join us for special events, themed activities, creative challenges and plenty of opportunities to make new memories together.
Whether you’re discovering the Gallery for the first time or returning to a place you remember from your own childhood, there’s lots to look forward to.
A year of celebrations
Throughout our anniversary year, we’ll be bringing Roald Dahl’s much-loved stories to life with a changing programme of activities inspired by his extraordinary characters and adventures.
Look out for:
Monthly story themes – discover a different Roald Dahl story each month, with activities and creative challenges inspired by its characters and adventures.
Family activities and crafts – get hands-on with family friendly self-led crafts on every weekend.
School holiday fun – enjoy special themed activities during Buckinghamshire school holidays.
Special anniversary events – join us for two very special birthday celebrations, with entertainment, storytelling and surprises.
Memories from the past 30 years – discover stories and photographs from the families, children and visitors who have made the Gallery part of their lives.

Saturday 13 February 2027 – The Popwhizzing Party
Help us launch our 30th anniversary celebrations with a fantastical family party! Expect storytelling, fancy dress, face painting, balloon modelling and lots of birthday fun.
Saturday 18 September 2027 – Spendiferous 30th Birthday Celebration
You’re invited to our biggest birthday party yet! Join us for a special day of entertainment, storytelling, fancy dress, face painting, balloon modelling and plenty of surprises as we celebrate 30 years of the Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery.

It is open at weekends and during Buckinghamshire school holidays. Your visit to the Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery also includes access to the museum’s galleries, so there’s even more to discover.
