How did the Vikings shape life in Buckinghamshire?

Learn all about the Vikings and the impact they had on Buckinghamshire with this immersive re-enactment workshop.

In this workshop, pupils will:
-experience Viking battle tactics

-take part in a Witan meeting and decide on a judgement

-help act out a story from Viking mythology

-explore the Viking finds in our museum galleries

-A local history study
-The Viking and Anglo-Saxon struggle for the Kingdom of England to the time of Edward the Confessor

Learning Objectives and Key Skills:

  • To develop knowledge and understanding of how the Viking invasion of Britain affected life in Buckinghamshire
  • To understand how Viking beliefs, battle tactics and justice system contrasted to those of the Anglo-Saxons
