What would a Victorian Christmas look like?
Pupils will explore the origins of modern Christmas through object handling, crafts and role play in this seasonal workshop.
In this workshop, pupils will:
-Discuss how Christmas would have been experienced by both rich and poor Victorian families
-Handle genuine Victorian objects to learn about how a Victorian Christmas dinner would have been made
-Try out Victorian toys and festive games
-Make a Victorian pomander decoration to take home
-Learn about the festive tradition of mumming by taking part in a mini Mummers play
-Explore our museum galleries with our Christmas Trail
